Will Win 7 run DOS programs. I use a DOS CAD program that I have written 1. So I have to have access to a working DOS environment. I have tried both 3. W7 OS and XPmode applications, XP Pro, XP Home, W9. Free. DOS MS DOS 6. DOS VMs run the program but can't make a network connection to get. I don't have). 2) DOSBox will work if I had to use W7 but disk access is extremely slow - so my routines run very slow. WMWare - I spent about 2 hours on this one same problems as W7. Virtual. Box - I am working on now, but so far I haven’t been able to get network access in/out of the vm so haven’t tried to run the program. This one does allow video modifications though so it at least has potential. I currently have the computer setup as a dual boot with XP on the D: drive, C: drive was Vista (came on the machine) which I didn't use because of this. I got W7 because they claimed that the not being able to run older program was fixed - right. I have installed. W7 several times (which easy, and is the only thing that I can say is major improvement over older installations) while testing as I have not activated it and my screwing around messes it up. XP runs the program in a DOS window almost as well as a windows program and actually better than when I started using it in the 8. I would be happy to run under XPMode – but MS screwed that up with their video card emulator - why? I have an important MS DOS program that won’t run in Win 7.
